Pics below are of the Ochre Pits which we visited after stopping at Ormiston Gorge in the West Macdonnell Ranges. There is a $5000 fine for removing any of the ochre clay. Ramona the tour guide said the ochre is still used by aborigines for special ceremonies which would not be spoken about to the wider community.
