Pics below: I took these pictures of acacia (wattle) yesterday at Blackburn Lake. September 1 was Wattle Day with wattle as Australia's national emblem. I recently read that author D.H. Lawrence visited Australia in 1922 and was enthralled with the golden wattles of Australia ( there are 900 species).  Apparently he said that it was as if angels had landed carrying with them the gold of the wattle on their wings.
